I don't CU
I’ve finally been transferred out of ICU and this whole thing has really given me some great motivation to keep pushing and hopefully get discharged soon. I’m still not able to walk and am pretty much bed ridden. Im starting to learn more about my LVAD, how to change the batteries and am learning about the safety of the machine. It’s easier than I thought it would be. The controller is connected to my body which then leads to two battery outputs. If both batteries disconnect the controller has 15 minutes of internal battery and then the machine stops working. Lets hope that mine will never stop working!
Im 17 and therefore I shouldn’t be in the adult ward, so there is no chance of me making friends in this ward who are anywhere near my age. I’m surrounded by 2 other LVAD patients who have told me some stories about their experience with the machine and one of them has really motivated me to be happy with my life. This man has been through so much and he cannot do as much as the people around him but he still pushes himself and always has a smile on his face. It made me really think that I shouldn’t ever be upset about having to have an LVAD. If I have a positive mind and attitude, it’ll just make everything easier.
I start my Physio sessions in 2 days and I cannot wait to see how long it’ll be before I’m able to walk normally.
